Introduction

Join Lakefield Neurological Centre in Chigwell as a Maintenance Assistant, where you will help create a well-presented and safe environment for some of the most vulnerable people in society.

As a Maintenance Assistant, you will ensure that service facilities are fit for purpose, manage gardening tasks, and conduct regular audits to identify and repair faults, ensuring safety for service users, staff, and visitors.

Working with an established team, you will handle various maintenance-related tasks, liaise with contractors to support the upkeep of the service, and receive all necessary training to succeed. As a Maintenance Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining the service, buildings, facilities, and equipment to ensure they are fit for purpose.
• Applying good DIY skills to maintain safety standards.
• Performing regular checks and maintenance.
• Repairing and maintaining all buildings.
• Decorating as needed.
• Liaising with a manager to report faults and defects.
• Participating in a 1-week on-call rota for emergency maintenance.
• Supporting contractors on-site and completing all related paperwork and tool checks.
• Maintaining perimeter fencing around boundaries.
• Facilitating gardening groups with patients.

To succeed in this role, you should:

• Follow systems and procedures.
• Have previous maintenance experience.
• Possess gardening experience.
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Show courtesy and respect to residents at all times.
• Attend and participate in training and staff meetings.

Location:

Lakefields Neurological Centre is a 22-bed service providing specialist 24-hour nursing and therapy for people with complex neurological conditions, including neuro-rehabilitation, tracheostomy, and ventilator care. The centre features adapted bedrooms, high-dependency equipment, therapy facilities, spacious lounges, and accessible gardens.
