Job summary

The Bird, Bath and Dukes Hotel, Bath is seeking a Hotel Maintenance Assistant to help keep our boutique property safe, presentable, and running smoothly. This hands-on role suits someone who enjoys solving problems and supporting colleagues across departments.

Working hours are generally 25–30 per week across four or five days, with a rota that may include weekends and bank holidays. Training and progression opportunities exist within Kaleidoscope Collection.

Qualifications

• Must be practical, dependable and willing to learn.
• Ability to work 25-30 hours across four or five days.
• Experience in hospitality is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Responding to day-to-day maintenance issues across the hotel
• Carrying out planned and preventative maintenance tasks
• Completing routine checks to help maintain a safe working environment
• Supporting teams across both front-of-house and back-of-house areas
• Carrying out general repairs and improvements
• Helping maintain the presentation and condition of guest and team areas
• Identifying issues and escalating work that requires a specialist contractor
• Ensuring work is completed safely and with minimal disruption to our guests

About the role

As our Hotel Maintenance Assistant, you’ll help keep the hotel safe, presentable and running smoothly.

Your working hours will generally fall between guest check-out and the arrival of new guests. You’ll work approximately 25-30 hours per week across four or five days.

What you’ll be doing

What we’re looking for

You may have previous experience in areas such as:

• General property maintenance


• Plumbing


• Painting and decorating


• Basic electrical work


• Carpentry


• Building or facilities maintenance

We don’t expect every applicant to have experience in all these areas. What matters most is that you are practical, dependable and willing to learn.

You’ll also need:

• A hands-on and proactive approach


• Good problem-solving skills
