Yolk Recruitment is recruiting a Maintenance & Site Services Assistant for a busy manufacturing site in Clevedon. The role focuses on hands-on maintenance, operating forklifts, and supporting water treatment and Legionella monitoring alongside a skilled engineering team.

You'll gain exposure to a range of industrial machinery, with training provided for cranes, water treatment, and safety procedures. A practical background in manufacturing and a proactive attitude are valued for future growth.

Formación

• Forklift driving experience; valid licence preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing/industrial environments.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and hands-on maintenance exposure advantageous.
• Exposure to water treatment systems and Legionella monitoring would be beneficial, training provided.

Responsabilidades

• Operate forklifts to move materials and maintenance supplies around the site.
• Monitor and maintain water treatment systems; support Legionella control procedures.
• Conduct regular inspections of production machinery and check for leaks or maintenance issues.
• Check fluid levels and stock of oils, lubricants and other consumables.
• Assist with housekeeping across production areas and around machinery.
• Support with crane operations and general material handling; collaborate with maintenance team.
• Assist with plant maintenance activities and learn various industrial machinery.

Maintenance & Site Services Assistant

Shift: Monday to Friday Days, flexible working hours (typically 7am-4pm or 8am-4pm)

Salary: Circa £30,000

Location: Clevedon, North Somerset

Yolk Recruitment are supporting a well-established manufacturing business with the recruitment of a Maintenance & Site Services Assistant to join their engineering department.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a practical background in manufacturing or industrial operations who is looking to develop their skills and gain valuable experience within an engineering environment.

You’ll be working alongside a highly skilled and experienced engineering team, gaining exposure to a wide range of industrial production machinery and equipment. The business is committed to providing training and development, offering the opportunity to build your technical knowledge and potentially take on further maintenance responsibilities as your experience grows.

This is what you’ll be doing

As a Maintenance & Site Services Assistant, you’ll play an important role in supporting the day-to-day upkeep of a busy manufacturing facility, working closely with the engineering team to ensure plant equipment and surrounding areas are maintained to a safe standard.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Operating forklifts to safely move materials, equipment and maintenance supplies around the manufacturing site.

• Monitoring and maintaining water treatment systems, carrying out routine checks and supporting Legionella control procedures.

• Conducting regular inspections of production machinery, identifying hydraulic oil leaks, fluid losses and potential maintenance issues.

• Checking fluid levels and monitoring stocks of oils, lubricants and other maintenance consumables.

• Supporting general housekeeping across production areas, engineering workshops and surrounding plant equipment.

• Assisting with cleaning, spill management and maintaining safe working areas around machinery.

• Operating overhead cranes and supporting general material handling activities, with training provided where required.

• Working alongside the maintenance team, gaining exposure to a variety of industrial machinery and assisting with general plant maintenance activities where appropriate.

The experience you'll bring to the team

• Previous experience operating counterbalance forklifts, ideally holding a valid forklift licence.

• Experience working within a manufacturing, production, industrial or maintenance environment.

• Comfortable working around industrial machinery and carrying out routine equipment inspections.

• A practical, hands-on approach, with some basic mechanical knowledge or maintenance experience being advantageous.

• Previous exposure to water treatment systems, Legionella monitoring or overhead cranes would be beneficial, although training can be provided.

• Good understanding of health and safety procedures within an industrial environment.

• A reliable, proactive attitude with a genuine willingness to learn, develop new skills and take on additional responsibilities.

Formal engineering qualifications are not essential. We’re particularly interested in candidates from forklift driving, production, plant operations, facilities or maintenance support backgrounds who are looking for an opportunity to develop their technical skills.
