Job summary

Hartford Care Ltd in Portsmouth is seeking a proactive Maintenance Person to provide general maintenance and caretaking for the home and grounds, including gardens where required. You will work as part of a caring team to keep the environment safe and welcoming for residents.

The role involves decorating, carpet fitting, light bulb changes, and safety checks, with a DBS check required. A full driving licence and good IT skills (iPads) are essential for day-to-day operations.

Qualifications

  • Good skills and experience in general maintenance.
  • Robust painting and decorating experience with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and IT skills; proficient with apps on tablets.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
  • Strong organisational and planning abilities.
  • Able to work independently or in a team.
  • Flexible hours and a full clean driving licence.
  • DBS check required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general maintenance and caretaking to keep the home and grounds in good order.
  • Decorate, lay carpets, change light bulbs and carry out safety checks as required.
  • Work as part of a team to create a caring, happy atmosphere for residents.

Care Home Maintenance
Full-time - 40 hours per week
Location:
Hartford Court - Portsmouth, Hampshire (PO3 6GN)

The Role

As a Maintenance Person, you will be providing a general maintenance and caretaking service to ensure the home and grounds (including gardens where required) are well maintained as required, and working together as a team to create a happy and caring atmosphere.

Whether you are redecorating a room ready for a new resident to move in, laying a new carpet, chatting to a resident as you change their light bulb, or carrying out a fire alarm check you will do so with care at the heart of everything you do.

Requirements
Essential:
  • A compassionate and caring nature
  • Good level of skills and experience in carrying out general maintenance
  • Robust and high-quality painting and decorating experience with a keen eye for detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good IT skills and knowledge (including robust skills in using apps and systems on iPads and other IT equipment)
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
  • Strong organisation and planning skills
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • A flexible approach to working hours
  • Full and clean driving license

It would be desirable if you have previously been trained as the Legionella Responsible Person in your workplace.

This position is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
