Job summary

Hartford Care Ltd in the Newport area is seeking a Maintenance Person to provide general maintenance and caretaking across the home and grounds, including gardens where required. You will work as part of a friendly team to ensure a safe, clean and welcoming environment for residents.

You will redecorate, lay carpets, replace light bulbs, carry out fire alarm checks and assist with repairs, with a strong focus on care and attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Compassionate and caring nature.
  • Good skills and experience in general maintenance.
  • Robust painting and decorating experience with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good IT skills using apps on tablets and other equipment.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general maintenance and caretaking to keep home and grounds well maintained.
  • Redevelop spaces (e.g., redecorating rooms, laying carpets) and perform routine repairs (e.g., changing light bulbs).
  • Carry out fire alarm checks and other safety checks as required.
  • Work as part of a team or independently to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for residents.

Job description

Based around the Newport Area - TF10

Full time - 40 hours per week

A valid driving licence and access to a car are essential for this role.Mileage expenses will be reimbursed.

The Role

As a Maintenance Person, you will be providing a general maintenance and caretaking service to ensure the home and grounds (including gardens where required) are well maintained as required, and working together as a team to create a happy and caring atmosphere.

Whether you are redecorating a room ready for a new resident to move in, laying a new carpet, chatting to a resident as you change their light bulb, or carrying out a fire alarm check you will do so with care at the heart of everything you do.

Requirements
Essential:
  • A compassionate and caring nature
  • Good level of skills and experience in carrying out general maintenance
  • Robust and high-quality painting and decorating experience with a keen eye for detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good IT skills and knowledge (including robust skills in using apps and systems on iPads and other IT equipment)
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
  • Strong organisation and planning skills
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • A flexible approach to working hours
  • Full and clean driving license

It would be desirable if you have previously been trained as the Legionella Responsible Person in your workplace.

This position is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
