Job summary

Royal Mail in the Yorkshire Parcel Hub (WF6 2XX) is hiring a Mail Sorter on a permanent contract. You will work 37 hours per week, Sundays to Thursdays, 14:00–22:00, at a large hub handling up to 30 kg items with occasional two-person lifts.

You’ll move around the building, unload vans, push trolleys, sort parcels and letters, and may operate machinery as part of a team keeping the centre running 24/7.

Please note this is a large parcel hub predominately dealing with over size parcels which can weigh up to 30kg. At times 2 people lift required. Due to the various tasks and time lines you will be expected to move around different work areas of the building through out the day or working on a machine belt with a team of people.

Changing from one task to another along the sorting chain, you could be unloading mail from vans, moving it around in trolleys, sorting parcels and letters manually or operating machinery. A mail centre can process over a million items in a shift and you’ll be a valuable part of making that happen. And you take it in your stride. Please note: For candidate search purposes, roles offering between 35-37 hours per week are listed as full-time. However, any role under 37 hours per week will be classified as part-time in the employment contract.
