Job summary

Morgan Ryder Associates in Gloucester is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer with experience in power electronics and magnetic component design to join a specialist engineering team delivering bespoke magnetic solutions for high-growth technology sectors.

You will work across the full product lifecycle, from concept design through simulation, prototyping, testing and manufacture, using advanced tools and collaborating with customers and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• Experience within power electronics, power conversion or magnetic component design.
• Understanding of transformers, inductors and related technologies.
• Experience with laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analysers or LCR meters.

Responsibilities

• Designing transformers, inductors, chokes and other magnetic components for power conversion.
• Supporting development of switch mode, DC–DC, AC–DC and resonant converters.
• Performing electrical, magnetic and thermal calculations.
• Producing technical documentation, specifications and design reports.
• Supporting prototype builds, testing and validation activities.
• Using simulation and modelling tools to optimise performance.
• Collaborating with manufacturing teams for product introduction.
• Engaging with customers to understand technical requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
