Job summary

Luxfer MEL Technologies in Manchester is seeking a Quality Control Analyst to join the Materials Quality Control team on a fixed-term maternity cover. You will perform hands-on analysis across magnesium products, conduct metallurgical tests (OES, XRF, tensile, corrosion) and ensure products meet specifications while maintaining traceable records.

Qualifications

• Industrial laboratory or manufacturing quality-control experience.
• Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Materials Science, Metallurgy or related field (or equivalent practical expertise).
• Experience testing or inspecting metallic materials is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail with numerical skills and ability to interpret results.
• Safety, traceability and right-first-time work are essential.
• Clear communication and ability to prioritize in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze raw materials, in-process samples and finished magnesium products.
• Carry out metallurgical and analytical testing using OES, XRF, tensile and corrosion testing.
• Inspect material against specifications and visual standards, identifying nonconformities.
• Maintain clear, accurate records, equipment checks and calibration status.
• Work with Production, Quality and technical colleagues to deliver timely results and support investigations.
• Contribute to safe working, audits, method improvements, 5S and continuous improvement.
