An exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative and motivated individual to join the Macmillan therapy team as a static Band 6 Physiotherapist within the Therapy department at Northampton General Hospital, part of the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire.
Do you have a special interest in working within cancer care? Do you have the skills and experience to work with the often complex medical, physical, psychological needs of those living with cancer?
This role will help you develop specialist clinical skills working within the Macmillan therapy team, as well as allowing you the opportunity to be involved in staff development, audit and service improvement.
We welcome applicants looking to further develop their band 6 skills within this specialist area.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 clinician within a joint therapy service, you will be required to take part in delivering a quality Therapy Service working closely with other members of the Multidisciplinary Team. You will need to have an enthusiastic attitude, be forward thinking and have a problem-solving approach to patient management. The ability to work within a fast paced and pressured environment is essential, along with having excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstration of the ability to support other team members.
The post holder will be responsible for the provision of Therapy assessment, intervention, discharge planning of patients with complex diagnoses and supporting goals to maintain dignity and quality of life. You will also need to work in collaboration with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide a patient-centred service, working to identify patient needs to facilitate a safe and timely discharge from hospital.
As a band 6, various training and development opportunities are available including protected time for CPD, and access to Macmillan resources to ensure that you are equipped with the competence and confidence required for this post.
Robust peer support from fellow Band 6s is encouraged and will have regular individual and team supervisions held monthly. You will have the opportunity to supervise staffto provide clinical support and guidance.

- BSc Honours (or equivalent) in Physiotherapy
- Health and Care Professions Council Registration.
