Job summary

MTS Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Machinist in Harlow to join a leading aerospace engineering business. The role involves operating manual and CNC machines, reading drawings, and ensuring precision in aerospace components.

You will work on a variety of machining tasks, with opportunities to advance in a workshop-based environment and contribute to high-specification aerospace projects.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Machinist in a precision engineering/manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience setting and operating manual and/or CNC machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical data.

• Manufacture, modify and repair precision aerospace components.

Location: Harlow, CM20
Pay: £17.00 – £19.00 per hour
Job Type: Permanent | Full Time
Hours: Monday to Thursday 7:30am – 4:00pm, Friday 7:30am – 12:30pm

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Machinist to join a well-established aerospace engineering business in Harlow.

This is a varied workshop-based position working on the manufacture, modification and repair of precision metal parts used within aircraft and aerospace components. The successful Machinist will be confident using both manual and CNC machinery and capable of working accurately from technical engineering drawings and specifications.

The Role

• Operate a range of manual and CNC machinery
• Work with lathes, milling machines, jig borers and grinders
• Manufacture, modify and repair precision aerospace components
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical data and work orders
• Work accurately to geometric dimensioning and tolerances
• Set up and run machinery to complete machining operations
• Diagnose machining issues including tool chatter, poor surface finishes and misaligned components
• Carry out routine and preventative maintenance on machinery
• Remove and install bushings, bearings, cups and liners as required
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with approved technical data and customer requirements
• Follow all workshop health and safety procedures and correctly use PPE

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Machinist within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment
• Strong experience setting and operating manual and/or CNC machinery
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical data is essential
• Good understanding of machining tolerances and precision measurement
• Experience diagnosing and resolving machining or machine faults
• Ability to manage your own workload and work efficiently to deadlines
• Previous machining experience within aerospace is desirable, although not essential
• Experience with lathes, mills, jig borers and/or grinding machinery would be highly beneficial
