Job summary

Meridian Business Support is recruiting on behalf of our client for a Machining Trainee / Technician to join their specialist manufacturing team in Taunton, Somerset. Qualifications

• A Level 2 or Level 3 Engineering qualification preferred.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to follow technical documentation.
• Willingness to learn new skills and adapt.
• Experience in machining or manufacturing preferred for Technician level.
• Interest in precision engineering and machine operation.

Responsibilities

• Mounting workpieces and preparing jobs for production.
• Setting up machinery in line with drawings and specifications.
• Operating machinery to manufacture precision components.
• Demounting completed work safely and efficiently.
• Cleaning finished components to required standards.
• Carrying out routine machine maintenance and housekeeping.
• Inspecting and checking completed work for quality and accuracy.
• Following engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions.
• Adhering to Health & Safety and COSHH procedures at all times.

35-hour week | Monday to Friday | Day Shift

Meridian Business Support is recruiting on behalf of our client for a Machining Trainee / Technician to join their specialist manufacturing team in Taunton, Somerset. This role offers the opportunity to develop a career in precision engineering, with full training provided for trainee-level candidates and further development opportunities for experienced technicians.

Working as part of a small, supportive team, you will be involved in the production of precision components, following detailed engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

The Role

• Mounting workpieces and preparing jobs for production
• Setting up machinery in line with drawings and specifications
• Operating machinery to manufacture precision components
• Demounting completed work safely and efficiently
• Cleaning finished components to the required standards
• Carrying out routine machine maintenance and housekeeping activities
• Inspecting and checking completed work for quality and accuracy
• Following engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions
• Adhering to Health & Safety and COSHH procedures at all times

The Machining Trainee / Technician will work a 35-hour week on a Monday to Friday day shift, with flexibility around working hours where required.

Skills & Experience

• A Level 2 or Level 3 Engineering qualification (preferred)
• Good attention to detail and the ability to follow technical documentation
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills
• Previous machining, manufacturing, engineering or workshop experience for Technician-level applicants
• An interest in precision engineering, mechanical manufacturing or machine operation

Salary & Benefits

• Suitable for candidates with little or no machining experience
