Job summary

Abatec is recruiting for a hands-on Manual/CNC Setter Operator in the Weston-super-Mare/Clevedon area. You will set up and operate manual and CNC machines on engine components, ensuring parts meet quality standards and tolerances.

The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, with no weekend work and overtime opportunities. A competitive salary is offered with weekly pay and involve working with SERDI and other specialist machinery.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and CNC-assisted machinery.
• Operate SERDI machinery, including valve seats.
• Position and prepare components for machining and select tooling.
• Make manual adjustments and run existing CNC programmes (no programming).
• Machine and remanufacture components and perform finishing with hand/power tools.
• Check finished parts against tolerances and identify defects.
• Follow health & safety and production procedures.

Job description

Abatec are currently recruiting for a Manual / CNC Machine Setter Operator for a well-established company operating within the engine remanufacturing sector, based in the Weston-super-Mare/Clevedon area.

This is a hands-on engineering role, ideal for someone with previous experience in machining, production, engine reconditioning or a similar engineering environment. You will be responsible for setting and operating specialist machinery, working on engine components and ensuring finished parts meet the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities:

• Set up and operate manual and CNC-assisted machinery
• Operate SERDI machinery, including cutting valve seats
• Position and set the components ready for machining
• Select and set the correct tooling
• Make manual machine adjustments as required
• Operate CNC machinery using existing programmes – no programming required
• Machine and remanufacture components/products
• Carry out polishing and finishing using hand and power tools
• Check finished components and measurements against required tolerances
• Identify any defects or issues with components
• Maintain a high standard of quality and workmanship
• Follow all health & safety and production procedures

Requirements:

• Previous experience within manufacturing, production, machining or engineering
• Previous machine operating, setting or mechanical experience would be advantageous
• Experience working with manual or CNC machinery
• Confident using basic hand and power tools
• Good attention to detail
• Able to work accurately and follow set processes
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently or as part of a team
• Previous experience with SERDI machinery, press brake machinery, cylinder-head machining or precision engineering would be highly advantageous.
