Job summary

GTS International in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, is seeking a skilled CNC Setter/Operator to join a precision engineering team producing safety-critical equipment.

You will set and operate 4-axis and 5-axis CNC machines, plan production schedules, deburr and finish components, and inspect parts to exact specifications. This on-site role offers a strong pension, healthcare, training, and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Interpret CNC programmes and technical drawings to spec.
• Understand cutting tools, materials and machining basics.
• Familiar with inspection techniques and quality checks.

CNC Setter / Operator

Location: Abingdon

Salary: From £40,000pa

Must be UK resident and have full right to work in the UK without sponsorship both now and in the future

The Opportunity

• Operate on-site at a dedicated, clean, well organised manufacturing facility (not your typical machine shop)
• Contribute to high-quality production standards and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Set and operate 4-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines and multi-turret CNC lathes.
• Plan and manage production schedules, including unmanned machining within a continuous manufacturing environment.
• Deburr, fettle and finish components to required specifications.
• Inspect components to ensure quality, accuracy and compliance with technical requirements.

Skills and Experience

• Ability to interpret CNC programmes, machine code and technical drawings, including assembly and finishing instructions.
• Strong knowledge of cutting tools, materials and machining processes.
• Experience with component inspection techniques, including pressure testing, magnetic particle inspection and paint finish assessment.
• Basic IT and ERP system skills, alongside a commitment to teamwork, accountability, integrity and high professional standards.
