Job summary

People-Tower in Stevenage is seeking a dedicated Machine Operator to join our production team. You will set up machinery, monitor processes, and ensure quality and safety at all times.

The role requires strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work standing for long periods, with some lifting and a proactive approach to improvements. Training is provided to support growth within the business.

Qualifications

• 5 years experience operating a machine.
• Must be committed and reliable.
• Able to stand for long periods.
• Some lifting may be involved.
• Knowledge of basic machine maintenance and quality inspection techniques.
• Keen and eager to learn and grow within the business.
• Able to solve problems using own initiative but willing to seek support if required.
• Able to look for more effective and efficient ways of doing things and bring new ideas to the business.
• Physically fit.

Responsibilities

• Set up machines to slit and sheet roll materials.
• Keep working area clean and tidy.
• Ensure authorised work is completed safely.
• Utilise controls to prevent risk of exposure to hazards.
• Participate in incident investigations, training, and other health and safety initiatives.
• Understand production processes including set up and operation of machinery, diagnose process and equipment faults to achieve maximum throughput and quality in line with daily production and quality specification targets.
• Complete Pre-start HACCP checks and relevant checks across the plant.
