Alignerr is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer (AI Training) for a fully remote hourly contract. You will train AI models by documenting expert-level reasoning, recording step-by-step decision processes, and producing high-quality training data.

You should have a strong ML or software engineering background, the ability to articulate complex reasoning, and a PhD or master's. Work independently on open-ended tasks with flexible schedule, 10–40 hours/week, potential for ongoing projects.

This isn't a typical ML role. You won't be tuning hyperparameters or deploying pipelines. Instead, you'll be producing the high-quality reasoning data that teaches AI models how to think like a skilled engineer — strategically, systematically, and reliably.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. Work on your own schedule, as much or as little as fits your life.

Who You Are

• Professional background in Machine Learning, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• Able to articulate complex reasoning clearly — you can explain not just what you did, but why
• Strong critical thinker who can identify gaps or errors in logical workflows
• Methodical and detail-oriented — you naturally document your thinking as you work
• Comfortable working independently on open-ended technical tasks
• Master's Degree or PhD in a relevant field

Nice to Have

• Experience with data annotation, data quality evaluation, or AI training pipelines
• Prior work in AI research, model evaluation, or RLHF-adjacent projects
• Familiarity with LLMs and how they're trained or fine-tuned
• Background in applied ML, NLP, or reasoning systems
