Job summary

Robert Hurst Limited in Bath is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor for Mechanical and Electrical projects. Based between the Pomeroy and Belfast offices, you will manage pre-and post-contract commercial activities and coordinate with project teams to protect margins.

The role requires a proactive, detail‑oriented professional with strong analytical and communication skills, a clean driving licence, and willingness to travel within the UK.

Qualifications

• 5+ years post graduate experience in a QS role within the Construction Industry.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• Applicants must have a clean driving license.
• Self-motivated, with a 'can-do' approach to work and willingness to learn and assist.
• Willing to travel to UK as required.

Responsibilities

• Attend pre-contract meetings and liaise with construction professionals to ensure timely actions.
• Contract review and negotiation with main contractors/clients.
• Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers for competitive pricing and favorable terms.
• Administer construction contracts and manage payment processes.
• Accurately measure and value work, ensuring compliance with specs and drawings.
• Prepare regular cost reports and financial statements; monitor budgets.
• Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Maintain communication with clients about costs, progress and changes.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers and support services to ensure success.
• Perform other duties as directed by management.
