M&E Estimator for Major Building Services Projects

Job summary

Dalkia UK, part of EDF, is seeking an experienced M&E Estimator to join our North West work-winning team. Based in Bolton, you’ll prepare accurate cost estimates for mechanical and electrical building services, review tender documents, and engage with subcontractors to secure competitive bids.

You’ll work with operations, commercial and pre-construction colleagues to develop winning tender strategies, identify risks and value engineering opportunities, and support handover of completed projects

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an M&E Estimating role within the building services industry.
• Understanding of mechanical and electrical installations, costs and procurement routes.
• Experience pricing complex projects in a Tier 1 contractor or established MEP contractor environment.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender requirements.
• Strong commercial awareness; ability to identify risk and opportunity.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Collaborative across multiple teams; proactive with focus on quality, improvement and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical and electrical building services projects.
• Review tender enquiries, drawings, specifications and project documentation.
• Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain and evaluate quotations.
• Identify project risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions.
• Support tender reviews, bid submissions and settlement meetings.
• Work closely with operational, commercial and pre-construction teams to develop winning tender strategies.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
• Monitor market conditions and pricing trends to ensure estimates remain competitive and commercially sound.
• Support the successful handover of awarded projects to delivery teams.
