Job summary

Wr Hvac is seeking an ambitious M&E Design Manager to lead the design department in delivering high-quality building services projects. The role combines hands-on technical design with people management and departmental leadership, reporting to the Design Director.

Ideal candidates have strong experience in building services design, robust technical skills for engineering calculations, and a clear drive to develop leadership capabilities within a growing team.

Qualifications

• Experience in building services or engineering design.
• Strong technical understanding and ability to perform engineering calculations.
• Experience coordinating projects, design activities or workloads.
• Good understanding of project budgets and commercial considerations.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Confident allocating tasks and managing deadlines.
• Proactive, energetic and capable of taking responsibility.
• Interest in developing leadership and people management skills.
• Desire for long-term career in engineering design.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the design department.
• Manage delivery of high-quality engineering design packages.
• Work with project consultants to align client requirements, budgets and constraints.
• Agree design scopes and allocate tasks across the team.
• Ensure design deliverables meet project programmes and deadlines.
• Carry out engineering calculations and technical design work.
• Coordinate with CAD technicians and other technical specialists.
• Monitor workloads, priorities and departmental performance.
• Report progress and KPIs to the Design Director.
• Support the development of design processes and team capabilities.
• Take on increasing people management responsibilities as the department grows.
