Job summary

Veritas Education is recruiting a Level 6 Teaching Assistant for Blackburn & Darwen. The role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, starting September 2026 on a long-term contract. You will assist across KS1 and KS2, delivering pre-planned lessons and supporting classroom learning.

You will lead classes in the absence of the teacher, maintain a positive learning environment, and provide feedback to teaching staff. DBS and right-to-work checks apply.

Qualifications

• A Level 6 Teaching Assistant qualification.
• At least 6 months of classroom experience.
• Experience working across KS1 and KS2.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to follow lesson plans effectively.

Level 6 Teaching Assistant - Blackburn & Darwen

Veritas Education is working with primary schools across Blackburn and Darwen seeking a confident and capable Level 6 Teaching Assistant to deliver pre-planned lessons across both KS1 and KS2.

This role involves leading classes in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring continuity of learning using work that has already been set. It is well-suited to someone who is comfortable taking responsibility for the classroom and can maintain a focused and positive learning environment.

Applicants should have:

• A Level 6 Teaching Assistant qualification
• At least 6 months of classroom experience
• Experience working across both KS1 and KS2
• Confidence delivering lessons and managing whole-class behaviour
• A proactive, organised, and adaptable approach
• Strong communication skills and the ability to follow lesson plans effectively

The role will include delivering lessons, managing classroom behaviour, supporting pupils' understanding of tasks, and providing feedback to teaching staff. There may also be elements of general classroom support when required.
