Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment is seeking a Level 6 Teaching Assistant to work across KS1 and KS2 in Blackburn & Darwen. The role involves delivering pre-planned lessons, taking responsibility for whole-class teaching in the absence of the teacher, and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Level 6 Teaching Assistant - Blackburn & Darwen

Start Date: September 2026

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM

Contract Type: Long-term

Veritas Education is working with primary schools across Blackburn and Darwen seeking a confident and capable Level 6 Teaching Assistant to deliver pre-planned lessons across both KS1 and KS2.

This role involves leading classes in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring continuity of learning using work that has already been set. It is well-suited to someone who is comfortable taking responsibility for the classroom and can maintain a focused and positive learning environment.

Applicants should have:
  • A Level 6 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • At least 6 months of classroom experience
  • Experience working across both KS1 and KS2
  • Confidence delivering lessons and managing whole-class behaviour
  • A proactive, organised, and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow lesson plans effectivelyThe role will include delivering lessons, managing classroom behaviour, supporting pupils' understanding of tasks, and providing feedback to teaching staff. There may also be elements of general classroom support when required.

All applicants will undergo an Enhanced DBS Check, reference checks, and any necessary overseas police clearances (if applicable) in line with safeguarding policies.
