Job summary

Oyster in Southampton is seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to drive electrical design across our yacht range. You will produce detailed 2D CAD drawings, cable schedules and contribute to product development, R&D and value engineering.

Reporting to the Design Manager, you will collaborate with Production, Engineering and Procurement to maintain high standards and on-time delivery. A marine electrical background and strong AutoCAD skills are essential.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of marine AC and DC electrical systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical installation for small craft production.
• Solid yacht electrical systems knowledge and layouts.
• Significant electrical design experience in marine environments.
• Proficient in AutoCAD for 2D drawings.
• Good IT skills: Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Able to interpret installation requirements into design information.
• Excellent attention to detail and quality.
• Capable of multi-tasking and meeting deadlines.
• Strong communication with production, engineering and procurement.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and maintain electrical design standards across Oyster range.
• Produce, check, update 2D electrical schematic and panel drawings in AutoCAD.
• Develop contract-specific 2D CAD electrical information for Production.
• Produce accurate cable running schedules aligned with manufacturing.
• Lead Electrical Design Change Request (DCR) process.
• Ensure design information delivered on time.
• Provide technical oversight to Electrical Design team and Managers.
• Manage resources within the Electrical Design team.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Joinery and Procurement.
• Attend development and production meetings, respond to feedback.
• Support external supply chain electrical design aspects with Clients.
• Contribute to management reporting and reflect contract variations.
