Job summary

Oyster Yachts Limited is seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to drive electrical systems across the yacht range. You will produce detailed 2D CAD schematics and panel drawings, develop contract-specific electrical information for Production and lead DCR processes.

Based in the UK with potential for Southampton or nearby locations, you will collaborate with Production, Engineering and Procurement to ensure high-quality, timely design outputs and continuous improvement across models.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of marine AC and DC electrical systems.
• Experience with electrical installation in small craft production.
• Strong AutoCAD skills and ability to produce detailed 2D drawings.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and maintain electrical design standards across the Oyster range.
• Produce, check, update and issue accurate 2D electrical schematic and panel drawings using AutoCAD.
• Develop contract-specific 2D CAD electrical information for Production.
• Produce accurate cable running schedules, considering manufacturing processes and installation requirements.
• Lead the Electrical Design Change Request (DCR) process across the Oyster range.
• Ensure electrical design information is delivered accurately and to agreed deadlines.
• Provide technical oversight to the wider Electrical Design team and Electrical Production Managers.
• Maintain and manage resources within the Electrical Design team.
• Work with Production, Procurement and other stakeholders to meet design requirements.
• Attend development, production and project meetings and respond to feedback.
• Contribute to product improvement, R&D and value engineering projects.
• Identify opportunities to improve electrical systems and manufacturing efficiency.
