Job summary

University of Southampton is recruiting a Research Fellow in the Lung Resilience and Remodelling group. The role, based at University Hospital Southampton, involves working with human lung tissue and BAL analyses, 3D cell culture, and molecular techniques. A PhD in cell and molecular biology and strong English communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Essential: PhD in cell and molecular biology with experience in cell culture and at least some listed techniques.
• Desirable: experience with primary lung cell culture, 3D culture techniques and immunohistochemistry.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a translational research team and work across laboratories.

Responsibilities

• Perform analyses on human lung tissue and bronchoalveolar lavage samples.
• Conduct 3D cell culture using primary cells and established lines.
• Analyse cellular responses with ELISA and RT-qPCR and manipulate cells pharmacologically or by gene editing.
• Adapt techniques across multiple laboratories with initiative and reliability.
