Job summary

TreetopsLearning Community in Grays, Essex, is seeking a Midday Assistant to support students during lunch. You will help keep pupils safe, engaged, and supervised during outdoor play and lunchtime activities, with a compassionate approach to children with diverse needs.

The role may require prior SEN experience; training will be provided. The post emphasises safeguarding, inclusivity, and collaboration with classroom staff to promote positive behaviour and well-being.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with special educational needs preferred.
• Able to promote an inclusive and positive environment during lunchtime.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and safeguarding duties.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety, welfare and good behaviour during the midday break.
• Assist pupils with meals and positioning in the dining hall.
• Encourage communication using signing and symbols where appropriate.
• Support pupils to be independent and participate in play activities.
• Work with teachers to implement behaviour plans and provide support.
• Report incidents or concerns to staff during lunchtimes.
