Job summary

Roman Road Primary School is seeking a Lunchtime Supervisor to support pupils during the lunch period. The role runs Monday to Friday with term-time hours and is based at the London E6 campus.

The post emphasises safety, smooth supervision, and positive interactions with children. The candidate should be able to respond quickly to incidents, uphold hygiene standards, and work in a supportive, respectful school community.

Qualifications

• Experience of dealing with children in domestic or work environments.
• Ability to supervise children effectively.
• Ability to understand children’s behaviour and respond to their needs.
• Understanding of basic hygiene and child safety issues.
• Ability to act quickly and responsibly in accidents or untoward circumstances.
• Ability to communicate well with children and support their wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage children during lunch periods.
• Monitor safety and hygiene during lunch breaks.
• Respond quickly to any accidents or issues and report appropriately.
• Support a positive, orderly lunchtime environment aligned with school policies.
• Communicate effectively with pupils to foster a safe and respectful atmosphere.

We are looking to appoint a Lunchtime Supervisor at Roman Road Primary School.

We require someone with the following qualities:

• Experience of dealing with children either in a domestic or work environment.
• Knowledge of an ability to supervise children.
• Ability to understand children’s behaviour and to respond to their needs in varying circumstances
• Understanding of basic issues of hygiene and child safety
• Ability to act quickly and responsibly in the event of accidents or untoward circumstances.
• Ability to communicate well with children
• Ability to undertake all duties on line with the Council’s Equal Opportunities policy.
