Job summary

Beechdale Nursery School in Consett, County Durham, is seeking an enthusiastic person to supervise pupils at lunchtime from Monday to Friday. The role is 7.5 hours per week (11:15–12:45) and starts 1 October 2026.

You should have experience working with children, be flexible and a good team player, and be willing to undertake training. The post requires clear spoken English and includes duties such as setting tables, keeping the lunch area clean, and supporting pupils according to the school's

The Governors would like to appoint an enthusiastic and committed person to supervise pupils during the lunch time period.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with children, be flexible, be able to work well within a team and be willing to undertake training.

Duties include supervising children during lunchtimes in school and in key worker rooms, clear up spillages in the lunch area, set tables and chairs, wipe down and maintain general cleanliness of the lunch area, communicate effectively with pupils, maintaining good behaviour according to the school’s behaviour policy.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

This post is not open to job share.

This position is paid whole time with retainer adjustments applied to periods of school closure. You will not be required to work during the school closure periods however your salary in these periods will be adjusted accordingly in line with the retainer regulations as specified in the National Joint Council (NJC) Green Book agreement.
