Job summary

Nervilles Cross Primary School & Nursery in Durham is seeking a Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant to cover 7hrs 30mins per week (11:30am–1:00pm) starting September 2026.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with children, be flexible, work well in a team, and undertake safeguarding training. Duties include supervising Lunchtime in school and outside, encouraging positive behaviour and maintaining a tidy environment.

Our Governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with children, be flexible, be able to work well within a team and be willing to undertake training including the safeguarding of children.

Duties include supervising children during lunchtime, both within the school building and outside in the playground, communicating effectively with children, maintaining a clean and tidy lunchtime environment and maintaining good behaviour according to the schools behaviour policy.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

This position is paid whole time with retainer adjustments applied to periods of school closure. You will not be required to work during the school closure periods however your salary in these periods will be adjusted accordingly in line with the retainer regulations as specified in the National Joint Council (NJC) Green Book agreement.
