Job summary

Carmarthenshire County Council is seeking a dedicated Lunchtime Supervisor to oversee lunchtime routines, encourage pupils to try new foods, and maintain a safe and enjoyable environment during lunch hours. The role operates Monday to Friday, term-time only, designed to fit around family commitments and other roles.

Requirements include the ability to remain calm, strong communication skills, and the willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• Calm demeanor and ability to build relationships with adults and children.
• Knowledge of basic food safety is an advantage but not essential as training will be provided.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Welsh language level – verbal Level 1; basic Welsh knowledge required.
• DBS check will be requested for this role.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily lunchtime routines and supervise student behaviour.
• Encourage pupils to eat and try new foods.
• Maintain a safe and enjoyable lunch-hour environment for all students.
• Attend to catering requirements as needed and support kitchen staff.

Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Lunchtime Supervisor to ensure the smooth operation of daily lunchtime routines, encourage pupils to eat and try new foods, oversee student behaviour, and maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all students during the lunch hour. The working hours are Monday to Friday and term time only, ideal to fit around family commitments and other roles we offer.

• The ability to remain calm and build good relationships with adults and children based on mutual respect.
• Knowledge of basic food safety. This would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be given.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to work on their own and as part of a team.

You will also need:

• A positive attitude and the willingness to learn new skills.
• Flexibility and the willingness to assist with other catering requirements., An Enhanced with Barred List Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be requested for this job. It is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children or adults at risk

Welsh language level - verbal Level 1 - You will need a basic knowledge of Welsh. Reasonable support can be provided on appointment to reach this level.
