Job summary

Carmarthenshire County Council is seeking a dedicated Lunchtime Supervisor to manage daily lunchtime routines, promote healthy eating, and supervise pupil behaviour during the lunch hour. This role operates during term time only, with Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday hours and a flexible selection of four days each week.

The ideal candidate will remain calm under pressure, have good communication skills, and be capable of working independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic food safety; training provided if needed.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work on their own and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate lunchtime routines to ensure smooth operation.
• Encourage pupils to eat and try new foods while promoting healthy choices.
• Monitor pupil behaviour and maintain a safe, respectful lunch environment.

Job description

Our school needs a dedicated and responsible Lunchtime Supervisor to ensure the smooth operation of daily lunchtime routines, encourage pupils to eat and try new foods, oversee student behaviour, and maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all students during the lunch hour. The working hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and term time only, ideal to fit around family commitments and other roles we offer. There is flexibility with which 4 days during the week.

Requirements

• The ability to remain calm and build good relationships with adults and children based on mutual respect.
• Knowledge of basic food safety. This would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be given.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to work on their own and as part of a team.

You will also need:

• A positive attitude and the willingness to learn new skills.
• Flexibility and the willingness to assist with other catering requirements., An Enhanced with Barred List Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be requested for this job. It is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children or adults at risk

Welsh language level - verbal Level 3 - You will need a good level of conversational Welsh. Reasonable support can be provided on appointment to reach this level
