Job summary

Blossom House School in Greater London is seeking a Part-Time Teaching Assistant to join our warm, supportive team. The role is permanent, term-time (approx. 36 weeks per year) and runs 11:00am–14:30pm, Monday to Friday, starting September 2026.

You will support children during lunch and play, help set up resources, and provide Teaching Assistant cover. The ideal candidate has excellent English, good reading and numeracy, can build positive relationships with children, parents and teachers, and

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to children during lunch and play time, promoting positive behaviour.
  • Ensure lunch and play areas are clean and tidy before, during and after lunch.
  • Set up and clear up equipment and resources during lunch and play time.
  • Provide Teaching Assistant cover during colleagues' lunch breaks.
  • Liaise with Teachers, Therapists and staff.

Job description

The role is Permanent, Part-Time, Term-Time (approx., 36 weeks per annum)

Monday to Friday (11:00am– 14:30pm)

Salary: £9,924

To Start: September 2026

Due to this expansion, we have an opportunity for you to be a part of a trans-disciplinary team of dedicated friendly Teachers, Therapists and Learning Support Assistants.

What the role involves:
  • Providing support to children during lunch and at play time, promoting positive behaviour.
  • Ensuring the lunch and play areas are clean and tidy before, during and after lunch.
  • Setting up and clearing up equipment and resources during lunch time and play time.
  • Providing Teaching Assistant cover while colleagues have their lunch.
  • Liaising with Teachers, Therapists and staff.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Confidence, enthusiasm and a passion for learning and working with children.
  • Excellent English skills (clear written and spoken English) along with good reading, writing and numeracy skills.
  • The ability to build good working relationships with children, teachers, parents and carers.
  • Experience of working with children with Special Education Needs (SEN), particularly children on the Autism Spectrum.
  • The ability to manage a small group of children with complex social communication needs.
  • The ability to promote positive behaviour in a nurturing environment is essential.
  • Supporting our students can sometimes be challenging, mental and physical resilience are qualities necessary for all our staff.
