Job summary

Shorefields in Colchester is seeking a Learning Support Assistant on a fixed-term contract until 31 August 2027. This part-time role is 27.5 hours per week, with a split schedule: 08:45–11:45 and 12:45–15:15, Monday to Friday, starting 02 November 2026.

You will support children emotionally and academically, supervise activities, use visual schedules, and work closely with the class teacher to implement targeted learning programmes and interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise play and learning; check understanding of activities.
  • Balance providing support with opportunities for independent work.
  • Provide access to visual aids and concrete learning resources.
  • Help express needs and wishes.
  • Use Now/Next visual schedules to structure activities.
  • Foster involvement and cooperative play.
  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher.
  • Deliver specified intervention programmes.
  • Support smooth physical transitions between activities.

Learning Support Assistant (Fixed Term until 31/08/2027)

27.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday 08:45am - 11:45am and 12:45pm - 15.15pm)
