Job summary

Calor Gas Ltd is seeking a Tank Operative in Stoney Stanton, Leicester. The role is outdoors, hands-on, and involves moving and processing LPG tanks safely across the site as part of a multi-skilled team. PPE and warm work attire are provided.

You will follow strict safety rules, operate yard machinery, and coordinate with the Tank Yard Supervisor to ensure compliant, efficient operations while maintaining high housekeeping standards and accurate records.

Qualifications

• Experience in an industrial, yard, warehouse or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding outdoor role.
• Willingness to obtain and hold Counterbalance FLT licence.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out LPG tank movements across the tank yard in line with site transport rules and traffic management plans.
• Load, unload and safely handle LPG vessels while complying with safety regulations.
• Operate machinery safely following manufacturer guidance and Calor work instructions.
• Segment tanks and manage general tank storage within the yard.
• De‑hooding, gas‑charging, steam cleaning and preparing LPG vessels for storage, refurbishment or scrapping.
• Manage inbound and outbound trailers and direct vehicles to designated bays.
• Complete trailer load inspections to ensure tank quality, safety and compliance.
• Record LPG vessel serial numbers and track them accurately.
• Report accidents, incidents, near misses and hazards via the safety management system.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, safety and organisation at all times.
• Collaborate with Tank Yard Supervisor and operatives for smooth operations.
