Job summary

Brightsmith in Manchester is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to help establish and scale its pilot manufacturing facility for low-carbon materials. You will shape how the factory operates, from equipment selection and layout through to commissioning, process improvement, and ramp-up, ensuring safe, reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Practical experience in manufacturing, production, mechanical or process engineering.
• Experience with equipment installations and production-line development.
• Reading technical drawings and working with suppliers.
• Experience in batch manufacturing environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop factory layouts, production workflows and material-handling arrangements.
• Translate process needs into equipment specifications, installation requirements and utilities.
• Support equipment selection, supplier reviews, installation and commissioning.
• Establish manufacturing procedures, support operator training and improve process consistency.
• Troubleshoot equipment and process issues, identifying downtime causes and bottlenecks.
• Improve throughput, equipment reliability and manufacturing efficiency as production scales.
