Job summary

Brightsmith in Manchester is seeking a hands-on Project Engineer to bring a pilot low-carbon manufacturing facility to production. You’ll own equipment selection, installation and commissioning, working with the Project Manager, suppliers and contractors.

The role covers translating process needs into layouts, supporting procurement, coordinating site prep, and ensuring safety and compliance. You'll lead commissioning, troubleshoot start‑up issues and drive output to target levels on the

Qualifications

• Experience delivering industrial or manufacturing projects on the factory floor.
• Background in mechanical, manufacturing, production, process or chemical engineering.
• Degree or equivalent practical experience; full lifecycle project involvement.

Responsibilities

• Translate process requirements into equipment specifications, layouts and utilities.
• Support equipment procurement, reviews and supplier management.
• Coordinate site preparation, installation and contractor activities.
• Incorporate safety and compliance into factory design.
• Lead equipment commissioning, troubleshoot start-up issues and drive production output.
