Job summary

Step Teachers is seeking an Early Career Teacher (ECT) for long-term supply across primary settings, starting September 2026. This role offers stability, supportive mentorship, and valuable experience for developing classroom practice.

The ideal candidate will hold QTS or qualify as an ECT by September 2026, be adaptable across year groups, and committed to safeguarding while delivering high-quality lessons and assessment practices within the primary curriculum.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or due to qualify as an ECT by September 2026.
• Strong understanding of the primary curriculum.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons in line with the primary curriculum.
• Plan, prepare, and adapt learning activities to meet all pupils’ needs.
• Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
• Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development.
• Assess and record pupil progress in line with school requirements.
• Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, mentors, and colleagues.
• Contribute positively to wider school life during the long-term placement.
