Job summary

Goldman Sachs is seeking an accomplished software engineer to lead forward-deployed AI engineering for The Core. You will design and deliver cloud-native AI applications, partnering with Core business teams to translate needs into scalable architectures and production systems.

The role requires 9+ years of production software experience, strong Python/Java/Go skills, and deep cloud proficiency across AWS/Azure/GCP, with explicit AI/ML integration responsibilities and forward-deployed delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 9+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building, deploying, and supporting robust production applications.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Java, or Go, with demonstrated ability to apply sound software engineering, testing, data modelling, and system design practices.
• Experience translating complex business requirements into cloud-optimized architectures and scalable data models.
• Experience operating in a forward-deployed or internal client-facing engineering model with pilot execution and handoff to receiving teams.
• Extensive experience with major cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and security standards.
• Experience designing cloud-based AI architectures integrating LLMs, vector search, and MLOps concepts.
• Demonstrated experience integrating LLM or AI/ML capabilities into production apps with monitoring and validation.

Responsibilities

• Rapid prototyping and delivery of cloud-native AI applications with CI/CD and tests.
• Partner with business and engineering teams to define scalable data models and architectures.
• Embed with core teams to map workflows, pilots, and adoption measurement.
• Build AI applications using LLM APIs, retrieval-augmented generation, and vector search.
• Apply cloud, DevOps and MLOps practices to ensure scalable, cost-aware solutions.
• Document solutions and mentor receiving teams for long-term ownership.
