Job summary

Goldman Sachs is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the rebuilt Electronic Trading data platform. You will own architecture and delivery, driving a cloud-native, AI-first stack end-to-end from design to deployment.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with stakeholders, and push for high-quality, scalable solutions across the team in a fast-paced environment. London-based, on-site role with strong leadership expectations.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of professional experience building high-performance, low-latency systems (sub-second) at VP level.
• Proven ability to lead and develop engineers across the team.
• Thorough knowledge of Java programming concepts (and Python a plus).
• Strong grounding in object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
• Experience with JVM internals, performance optimization, and GC tuning for real-time operation.
• Experience with distributed streaming systems handling large-scale volumes in near real time.
• Exposure to HDFS/S3, Snowflake, SingleStore, Kafka (or similar), Flink (or similar).
• Excellent communication skills with cross-team collaboration.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
• Demonstrable mentoring experience and setting technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical lead on the ground-up rebuild of the Electronic Trading data infrastructure into a cloud-native, AI-first platform.
• Design, build, and maintain a high-performance, high-availability platform processing real-time data and delivering to downstream applications.
• Develop reliable data ingestion pipelines for large data volumes from trading and market data systems.
• Design distributed computation infrastructure for parallelized queries across huge datasets.
• Build an AI-powered UI/agent framework delivering analytics and insights on large-scale data.
• Partner with stakeholders, client apps, and Compliance to shape features and roadmap.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineers and raise engineering standards.
