London Multi-Skilled Engineer – Building Services

Job summary

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer to join our London maintenance team, supporting plant, equipment and building services across a busy commercial contract. You will carry out planned preventive maintenance and reactive repairs, ensuring safe operations and compliance.

The successful candidate will work with HVAC systems including AHUs and FCUs, pumps, motors and lighting, while using CAFM systems and mobile devices to manage tasks.

Qualifications

• Recognised or time-served apprenticeship.
• Strong manufacturing or industrial maintenance experience.
• Electrical qualifications such as City & Guilds 236 Parts 1–2 or equivalent (17th Edition).
• Mechanical qualifications to City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2.
• Ability to fault-find across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with 3-phase motors, drives and inverters.
• PLC diagnostic or repair capabilities (advantageous).
• Confident supervising contractors and managing safety documentation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across building services, plant rooms and site infrastructure.
• Maintain and support core FM systems including HVAC, AHUs, FCUs, pumps, motors, lighting, emergency lighting, small power and general electrical systems.
• Complete routine statutory and compliance checks, ensuring all work is delivered safely and in line with site procedures.
• Respond to building-services faults, diagnose issues quickly and complete first-time fixes where possible.
• Support minor plumbing, heating, ventilation, drainage and fabric maintenance tasks as required.
• Work safely on low-voltage electrical systems, carrying out basic fault-finding, isolations and repairs within competence.
• Use CAFM systems and mobile devices to receive, update and close planned and reactive tasks accurately.
• Liaise with the client, site teams and contractors to resolve maintenance issues and maintain a high standard of service delivery.
• Support permit-to-work processes, risk assessments, method statements and contractor supervision where required.
• Act as a responsible and visible member of the engineering team, supporting wider FM operations and deputising for the Shift Leader when needed.
