Job summary

PE Global is recruiting a Logistics Specialist for a permanent role with a leading global energy technology and services organisation. The position can be based at Reading or Portlethen, with a hybrid pattern of 2-3 days in the office.

You will coordinate domestic and international movements, ensuring safe, efficient transport and alignment with delivery requirements, while monitoring KPIs and optimising costs. Strong communication and organisational skills are essential.

• Strong attention to detail when managing documentation, approvals and data.

Job description

PE Global is currently recruiting for a Logistics Specialist on behalf of a leading global energy technology and services organisation.

This is a permanent position offering a salary of £30,000-£38,000 per annum, depending on experience. The role can be based at either the company’s Portlethen site near Aberdeen or Reading, with a hybrid working arrangement of 2-3 days per week in the office.

The role:

As a Logistics Specialist, you will act as a key logistics focal point, coordinating domestic and international movements and ensuring equipment and cargo are transported safely, efficiently and in line with agreed delivery requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the logistics focal point for assigned business line logistics movements.
• Validate transport requests and required delivery dates across defined geographic regions or logistics lanes.
• Prepare equipment load plans in line with standard operating procedures to maximise equipment utilisation.
• Plan effective shipment and truck routings, including consolidation, cargo optimisation and backload opportunities.
• Use planning and rate-checking tools to achieve competitive transportation costs through preferred contracted rates.
• Monitor shipment execution and track cargo movements, managing deviations with logistics suppliers and keeping internal stakeholders informed.
• Issue work orders prior to each movement, including associated cost approvals.
• Identify opportunities for logistics network improvements and continuous improvement projects.
• Ensure transportation activities comply with applicable international transport regulations.
• Monitor cargo movement status and performance, investigating and addressing deviations.
• Implement proactive and corrective measures where potential delays or service deviations are identified.
• Manage international and domestic logistics movements in accordance with company policies, processes and applicable local regulations, including Finance, Personnel, LTC and QHSE requirements.
• Act as the interface between Logistics and Import/Export teams, ensuring effective communication and smooth coordination.
• Report deviations through the relevant quality management system and follow up on agreed action plans to support continuous improvement.
• Review and shortlist freight forwarder offers through the relevant bidding system.

Requirements

• Experience coordinating domestic and/or international logistics movements.
• Good understanding of transportation planning, routing and shipment execution.
• Experience working with logistics suppliers, carriers and/or freight forwarders.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities.
• Good commercial awareness, with an understanding of freight costs and opportunities for cost optimisation.
• Strong communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Experience monitoring logistics KPIs, milestones and carrier performance.
• A good understanding of transport compliance and relevant regulations.
• Strong attention to detail when managing documentation, approvals and logistics data.
