Job summary

TipTopJob in Stevenage is seeking an experienced Logistics Shift Manager to lead its warehouse, despatch and transport teams on a 12-hour shift pattern (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off) within a growing UK food manufacturing operation.

You will coach a team of around 30, set shift goals, manage attendance and training, oversee stock control, losses and CI initiatives, and ensure goods are prepared, loaded, secured and documented with a safety-first approach.

Qualifications

• Experience leading large warehouse/despatch teams.
• Ability to set measurable shift goals and monitor performance.
• Strong focus on safety and compliance with H&S standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of around 30 across warehouse, despatch and transport.
• Set shift targets; motivate and engage teams.
• Support risk assessments, SSoW and H&S compliance.
• Manage attendance, performance, recruitment and training.
• Monitor stocks, losses, wastage, costs; pursue continuous improvement.
• Ensure goods are prepared, loaded, secured and documented.

Role And Responsibilities Of The Logistics Shift Manager

• Leading a team of around 30 people across the warehouse, despatch and transport teams
• Setting goals and targets for the shift, ensuring teams are motivated and engaged
• Supporting risk assessments, SSoW, full compliance of H and S standards
• Manage staff attendance, performance, recruitment, training
• Looking at warehouse stocks, losses, wastage, labour costs, CI initiatives
• Make sure all goods are prepared, loaded, secured and documented

Knowledge, skills and experience needed to be the Logistics Shift Manager

• Must be an experienced coach and leader
• Experienced in managing a team in a busy warehouse and despatch operations
• Ideally have worked off the back of a busy manufacturing environment
• Strong man:management experience : able to hold people accountable, build relationships, set goals and targets, provide training and support
• Ideally CPC qualified
• Knowledge of warehouse stock control, losses, wastage
• High attention to detail, with a safety first approach
• Desirable : IOSH Managing Safely
• Previously have managed a similar size team (30)
