Job summary

Pivotal Recruit is seeking an experienced Logistics Coordinator in the UK to own international shipments from collection to delivery. You will work across sea, air, road and courier modes, coordinating with freight forwarders, carriers and customs agents to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery with proper documentation.

You’ll support growth of global logistics processes as operations scale. The role requires a minimum of 3 years’ international logistics experience and strong negotiation,

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' proven international logistics experience.
• Experience with sea, air, road freight and containerised shipments.
• Experience working with freight forwarders.
• Knowledge of international customs procedures, VAT and import duties.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of end-to-end international logistics, from collection to final delivery.
• Coordinate shipments worldwide via sea, air, road and courier.
• Obtain and compare freight costs; select shipping method based on cost and lead time.
• Liaise with production and project teams to ensure goods are ready for collection and shipping.
• Prepare packing lists and commercial invoices; apply for Certificates of Origin.
• Track shipments and provide updates on arrival dates.
• Resolve delays, shipping issues and documentation problems.
• Manage relationships with freight forwarders, carriers and customs agents.
• Ensure documentation complies with customs and export/import requirements.
• Review processes to improve efficiency, visibility and reliability.
• Assist in developing logistics procedures as international ops grow.

Job description

Are you an experienced Logistics Coordinator who enjoys taking ownership of international shipments from start to finish?

This is an opportunity to take responsibility for the global movement of products for an established and growing family-run business, coordinating shipments across the UK, Europe and the United States.

You’ll manage the process from factory or supplier collection through to final delivery, working with freight forwarders, carriers, customs agents and internal teams to make sure goods arrive on time, cost-effectively and with the correct documentation in place.

The role will initially be based in Kingsbridge before relocating to Plymouth, so applicants must be comfortable working from both locations, with subsidised travel in the transition period dependent on location.

What you’ll be doing

• Take ownership of the end-to-end international logistics process, from collection through to final delivery
• Coordinate worldwide shipments via sea, air, road and courier
• Obtain and compare freight costs and select the appropriate shipping method based on cost, lead time and requirements
• Liaise with production and project teams to ensure goods are ready for collection and shipping within agreed timescales
• Prepare packing lists and commercial invoices and apply for Certificates of Origin
• Track shipments closely and provide accurate updates on expected arrival dates
• Identify and resolve potential delays, shipping issues and documentation problems
• Manage relationships with freight forwarders, carriers, customs agents and other logistics partners
• Ensure shipping documentation is accurate and logistics activity complies with relevant customs, import and export requirements
• Review logistics processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, visibility and reliability
• Support the development of logistics procedures and systems as international operations grow

What we’re looking for

• A minimum of 3 years' proven international logistics experience
• Experience with sea freight, containerised shipments, air freight and road freight
• Experience working with freight forwarders
• Knowledge of international customs procedures, commodity codes, Incoterms, VAT and import duties
• Confidence obtaining, comparing and negotiating freight costs and service options
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication and relationship-management skills
• Experience using logistics, ERP, purchasing or stock-management systems
• Good Microsoft Office skills
• Flexibility to communicate with international suppliers and logistics providers across different time zones when required
