Job summary

PSM Recruitment is seeking an experienced Logistics Coordinator (Defence Control Tower) to join a leading organisation within the logistics sector. You will oversee time-critical defence shipments across Europe and beyond, ensuring compliance with SOPs, regulatory requirements, and customer deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

In this role you will coordinate daily Control Tower activities, maintain real-time visibility of all movements, and support secure handling of defence cargo.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' experience in freight forwarding or logistics operations.
• Knowledge of freight procedures, customs regulations, Incoterms, and shipping documentation.
• Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience within defence logistics or another highly regulated environment would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage defence logistics solutions throughout Europe and worldwide.
• Coordinate daily Control Tower activities, ensuring all shipments are managed in line with defined workflows and SOPs.
• Maintain real-time visibility of all active shipments and critical movements.
• Ensure structured shift handovers to maintain operational continuity.
• Monitor and manage shipments against agreed escalation processes and criticality thresholds.
• Liaise with internal teams, customers, and international partners to resolve operational enquiries.
• Ensure compliance with UK and EU export control regulations, customs requirements, and internal procedures.
• Verify licensing and permit requirements, including BPSS and Security Cleared (SC) driver requirements where applicable.
• Maintain accurate audit trails for shipment acceptance, movement, and compliance.
• Support the secure handling of defence cargo in line with security requirements.
• Participate in an on-call rota to support critical operations outside normal working hours.

About the Role

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

• A minimum of3–5 years' experience in freight forwarding or logistics operations.
• Strong knowledge of freight procedures, customs regulations, Incoterms, and shipping documentation.
• Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience within defence logistics or another highly regulated environment would be advantageous.
