Hello, we’re Severn Trent and we think water is wonderful. Oh, we’re pretty keen on people too.

24 hours a day, 365 days a year, we serve 4.8 million households and businesses across the heart of the UK. Each cup of tea and every toilet flush is only possible because of the 6,500 brilliant team members working across our patch.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality. We know diverse minds, experiences, and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our customers and the communities where they live.

If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Our Bioresources Logistics and Planning team have an opportunity for you to join as our new Logistics Controller.

In your new role, you’ll be responsible for the effective planning and scheduling of our tanker movements delivering Wastewater Recycling’s all-important sludge to Bioresources reception centres – generating cake, energy, and gas. Bioresources Logistics manages a fleet of over 40 tankers, and we’re responsible for the planned volume of sludge coming into our 26 reception centres.

This role plays a fundamental part of our Waste ecosystem.

Some of your other key accountabilities will include:

  • Provide a central contact point for Tanker Drivers, Wastewater Recycling, Contractors, and other stakeholders while facilitating the planning and scheduling of sludge movements.
  • Scheduling the tanker movements to meet compliance with the base plan and balancing the scheduling of vehicle inspections, servicing, and repair to ensure maximum tanker utilization and high levels of customer service.
  • Manage tanker schedules on a pro-active (pre-planned) and reactive (unplanned) basis through close liaison with relevant stakeholders to maximize tanker resource efficiency whilst ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Develop effective relationships with WWR managers to ensure high levels of customer service. Attend regular review and improvement meetings (committees).
  • Investigate efficiency opportunities and highlight areas of inefficiency with relevant stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate role model behaviors and contribute to a safe working environment for all parties.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

We’re seeking our new Logistics Controller to be comfortable monitoring compliance with financial and performance targets and reporting as required.

To be successful, it’s expected you’ll ideally have an understanding of operational performance metrics and managing budgets. You’ll also have strong IT and communication skills to manage a range of stakeholders at all levels.

As this role involves travel, a Full UK Driving License is required.

The right skills and experience are important. But if you have the right character, positivity, and a caring attitude, we want to talk to you too.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality, as we know diverse minds, experiences, and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We want people who show up and get involved. Those who are ready to be part of something bigger and who want to make a difference because they care. Is that you?

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU

Working here isn’t just a job. You can build a career at Severn Trent, and we’ll reward you for it too. We have a range of benefits that recognize great work, and award-winning training to help you reach your potential. And we’ll also help you play your part in looking after the environment and the communities where we live.

With that in mind, here are just some of our favorite perks that you’ll get being part of the Severn Trent family:

  • 25 days holiday, plus extra days in your quota to book off bank holidays depending on how many are in the year. This role requires you to work bank holidays. Plus, the ability to buy/sell up to 5 days per year.
  • This role requires working a weekend (usually one in seven), and you will receive additional weekend working payment and standby pay.
  • Leading pension scheme – we will double your contribution (up to 15% when you contribute 7.5%)
  • Sharesave – the chance to buy Severn Trent Plc shares at a discounted rate
  • Dedicated training and development with our ‘Academy’
  • Electric vehicle scheme and retail offers
  • Family-friendly policies
  • Two volunteering days per year
