Job summary

Wilson James at Hinkley Point C, Somerset, requires a Logistics Chargehand to supervise operatives and ensure works are completed safely, with documentation recorded in a timely manner.

You will deliver training, keep audit-ready records, and perform quality checks while coordinating with the Logistics Manager. This is a busy role on a site with a 12-hour shift pattern (18:00–06:00) on a 4 on/5 off cycle.

Qualifications

• CITB Supervisory H&S test is required and must be completed before start date.
• Previous Supervisory Experience is essential.
• SSSTS or actively working towards.
• Good IT skills are needed to manage documentation and records.

Responsibilities

• Supervise operatives to ensure safe working practices and compliance with RAMS, DABS and HPC processes.
• Deliver familiarisation and competency training to team members.
• Maintain accurate records for audit purposes and ensure designated areas are clean and well organised.
• Carry out quality checks on works performed by operatives and provide operational support as needed.
• Work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and a collaborative team.

Job title: Logistics Chargehand - Days

Location: Site-based at Hinkley Point C, Somerset

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £24.24 per hour

Working Hours: 40.25 hours per week on average

Working Pattern: Varied, working 12-hour shifts, from 18:00 to 06:00, on a 4 on, 5 off, 5 on, 4 off, 5 on, 5 off working pattern

As a Logistics Chargehand, you will be responsible in ensuring that works are completed and documentation is recorded accurately and timely.

You will be reporting to the Logistics Manager and your main role will be to supervise operatives ensuring they are working safely in line with RAMS, DABS and HPC processes.

You will be responsible for delivering familiarisation and competency training, and you will keep records for audit purposes. You will ensure that all designated working areas are set up correctly, and kept organised, clean, tidy and free from obstruction. You will carry out quality checks on works carried out by the operatives and provide support from an operational perspective when required. This will be a very busy role with conflicting priorities, and we are looking for someone who wants to join us who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has the ability to work with blue and white collar workforce. You will be part of a great team, who are supportive and friendly.

Site Specific Information

• You must be able to provide a 3-year work/ unemployment/ education history and required vetting process in line with HPC protocols.
• You must be able to obtain the HPC pass.
• The site is located remotely and a bus journey of approximately 45 minutes each way is required to gain access.
