Job summary

Wilson James is seeking a Logistics Chargehand – Days for the site at Hinkley Point C, Somerset. The role supervises operatives, ensures safe working practices, and maintains records in line with RAMS, DABS and HPC processes.

You will report to the Logistics Manager and deliver familiarisation and training, plus audit-ready records. Hours are 40.25 per week with 12-hour shifts (06:00 to 18:00) on a 4 on, 5 off, 5 on, 4 off, 5 on, 5 off pattern.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising a blue-collar workforce.
• CITB Supervisory H&S test completed before start date.
• SSSTS or working towards certification.
• Good IT skills for record-keeping and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Supervise operatives to ensure safe, efficient works aligned with RAMS and HPC processes.
• Deliver familiarisation and competency training and maintain required records.
• Set up and keep working areas clean, organised and accessible for audits.
• Perform quality checks and provide operational support as needed.

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £24.24 per hour

Working Hours: 40.25 hours per week on average

Working Pattern: Varied, working 12-hour shifts, from 06:00 to 18:00, on a 4 on, 5 off, 5 on, 4 off, 5 on, 5 off working pattern

As a Logistics Chargehand, you will be responsible in ensuring that works are completed and documentation is recorded accurately and timely. You will be reporting to the Logistics Manager and your main role will be to supervise operatives ensuring they are working safely in line with RAMS, DABS and HPC processes. You will be responsible for delivering familiarisation and competency training, and you will keep records for audit purposes. You will ensure that all designated working areas are set up correctly, and kept organised, clean, tidy and free from obstruction. You will carry out quality checks on works carried out by the operatives and provide support from an operational perspective when required. This will be a very busy role with conflicting priorities, and we are looking for someone who wants to join us who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has the ability to work with blue and white collar workforce. You will be part of a great team, who are supportive and friendly.

• Previous Supervisory Experience
• SSSTS or working towards
• Good IT skills

Site Specific Information

• You must be able to provide a 3-year work/ unemployment/ education history and required vetting process in line with HPC protocols.
• You must be able to obtain the HPC pass.
• The site is located remotely and a bus journey of approximately 45 minutes each way is required to gain access.
