Job summary

Pembroke College, Oxford, seeks an experienced Lodge Manager to lead its Porters' Lodge, the first point of contact for students, Fellows, staff and visitors. The Lodge operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and plays an essential role in day-to-day college life.

You will manage a team, ensure hospitality, security and emergency readiness, oversee budgets and service standards, and develop policies. The role requires professional, calm leadership and clear communication to support a diverse

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading a front-of-house, reception, security or facilities service.
• Strong organisational and people leadership skills.
• Ability to maintain security, safety and service standards 24/7.
• Experience with budgets and service improvements.
• Professional judgement under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Leadership and team management: lead, motivate and develop the Lodge team, manage staffing for 24-hour service, and oversee inductions, training and appraisals.
• Front-of-house and service excellence: ensure welcoming, professional reception, accurate records, and handling of inquiries and complaints.
• Security, safety and emergency response: manage access control, CCTV, incident recording, liaising with emergency services, and risk assessments.
• College community, resources and continuous improvement: support student welfare, coordinate events, manage budgets, review policies and maintain records.
