Locum Ready is seeking a Locum Practice Nurse to join a GP practice in Gateshead. The role focuses on high-quality patient care through chronic disease reviews, treatment room work, and routine nurse clinics in a structured primary care setting.

You will contribute to clinical reviews, preventive health work, and treatment room activity. The practice offers well-organised workflows, supportive nursing leadership, and a clear daily clinic structure. Flexible regular or ad-hoc sessions available.

Qualifications

• NMC registered nurse with primary care experience.
• Up-to-date immunisation and cytology training desirable.
• Confident in chronic disease management and treatment room-work.
• Good patient communication and clinical reasoning.

Responsabilités

• Conduct chronic disease reviews for asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension.
• Perform wound care, dressings and treatment room duties.
• Carry out adult and children’s immunisations (if trained).
• Undertake smear tests (cytology-trained nurses).
• Complete NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments.
• Manage results, recalls, and routine follow-up tasks.
• Document clearly in the clinical system.
