Job summary

Locum Ready in High Peak is seeking a Locum Practice Nurse to support a GP practice with regular clinic sessions.

You will conduct chronic disease reviews, wound care, immunisations and NHS Health Checks, delivering high-quality care in a well-organised primary care setting.

The role offers flexible morning and afternoon sessions, long-term bookings, and supportive nursing leadership to help deliver structured daily clinic workflows.

Qualifications

• NMC-registered nurse with experience in primary care.
• Up-to-date immunisation and cytology training desirable.
• Confident in chronic disease management and treatment room-work.
• Good patient communication and clinical reasoning.
• Familiarity with EMIS, SystmOne or Vision.
• Enhanced DBS.

Responsibilities

• Conducting chronic disease reviews for patients with asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension
• Performing wound care, dressings and treatment room duties
• Carrying out adult and children's immunisations (if trained)
• Undertaking smear tests (cytology-trained nurses)
• Completing NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments
• Managing results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks
• Documenting clearly in the clinical system
