Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a Locum Practice Nurse for a GP practice in Stroud. You will conduct chronic disease reviews, wound care, immunisations (if trained) and run routine nursing clinics within a structured primary care setting.

You will support high-quality patient care through clinical reviews, preventive health work, and timely documentation. Regular or ad-hoc sessions with morning/afternoon slots, long‑term bookings available.

Qualifications

• Must be NMC-registered with primary care experience.
• Experience delivering chronic disease reviews.
• Competent in wound care and treatment room duties.
• Immunisation and cytology training desirable.

Responsibilities

Locum Ready is looking for a Locum Practice Nurse to work for a GP practice in Stroud. This role is ideal for a Practice Nurse with strong assessment skills who can confidently deliver chronic disease reviews, treatment room procedures and routine nursing clinics in a structured primary care environment.

You will contribute to high-quality patient care through a balance of clinical reviews, preventative health work and treatment room activity. The practice offers well-organised workflows, supportive nursing leadership and a clear structure for daily clinic delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting chronic disease reviews for patients with asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension
• Performing wound care, dressings and treatment room duties
• Carrying out adult and children’s immunisations (if trained)
• Undertaking smear tests (cytology-trained nurses)
• Completing NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments
• Managing results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks
• Documenting clearly in the clinical system

Requirements

• NMC-registered Nurse with experience in primary care
• Up-to-date immunisation and cytology training desirable
• Confident in chronic disease management and treatment room-work
• Good patient communication and clinical reasoning
• Familiarity with EMIS, SystmOne or Vision
• Enhanced DBS
