Job summary

Your World in Coleraine is seeking a Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) with at least 12 months of phlebotomy experience. You will perform standard clinical measurements, venous blood sampling, and ensure accurate data entry within mobile clinics across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

You will work closely with the Service Delivery Lead to maintain safety, quality, and participant satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 12 months’ phlebotomy experience with validated competency in venepuncture.
• Experience working in an outpatient or similar clinical environment.
• Trained in Basic Life Support (ILS/ALS desirable).
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with participants, colleagues, and visitors.
• Ability to work collaboratively across clinical teams.
• Understanding of quality standards, KPIs, risk assessment, incident reporting, and infection prevention and control.
• Highly motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to travel between sites to support service needs.
• First Aid training.
• Experience in performance management or supporting team development.
• Demonstrated ability to motivate, support, and lead teams.
• Experience contributing to service improvement or pathway redesign.

Responsibilities

• Complete all required participant assessments, including: Blood pressure, Pulse, Height and weight, Waist measurement, Venous blood sampling, and recording in the clinical system.
• Monitor participant welfare throughout the appointment and elevate concerns appropriately.
• Provide signposting, advice, and guidance to participants where relevant.
• Prepare and package samples for courier collection.
• Support participant flow to minimise delays and maintain an efficient service.
• Provide on-site operational support and accelerate issues to the SDL as required.
• Offer administrative support and cover during breaks or periods of increased activity.
• Conduct site assessments and provide feedback on safety, clinical effectiveness, patient flow, staffing, and skill mix.
• Escalate risks to the Regional Manager or Head of Nursing.
• Report incidents, near misses, accidents, and complaints via Datix.
• Contribute to investigations, audits, and service reviews.
• Support the implementation of learning outcomes and quality improvements.
